About the Multicultural Centre for Respectful Maternity Care

The Multicultural Centre for Respectful Maternity Care (MCRMC) is a consumer-led and driven incorporated association dedicated to advancing equitable, culturally safe, sensitive, and respectful maternity care for migrant and culturally diverse women in Australia and other high-income countries (HICs).

Founded and governed by a diverse committee of migrant mothers and fathers who have personally navigated the Australian maternity system, MCRMC draws on lived experiences to bridge gaps in maternity care delivery. This ensures that all women receive dignified, trauma-informed care that honours their cultural, ethnic, religious, and linguistic backgrounds.

As a grassroots organisation, MCRMC prioritises collaboration with multicultural communities, healthcare bodies, researchers, and policymakers to influence broader reforms. We envision a maternity system where every migrant woman feels seen, heard, and respected, free from discrimination or cultural erasure. Through our work, we strive to create lasting impact, promoting intergenerational health equity and celebrating the richness of diverse heritages in Australian society.

Have you had a bad experience in hospital when you had a baby? Please get in touch so that we can support you.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work and live. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
